Remy and I made good use of the holiday downtime to move into our new abode. The moving process was tiring, but pretty smooth. Hiring movers is awesome. We closed on the house today, and it only took like 20 minutes. The former owner was pretty cool, and the guy who led us through all the paperwork signing had a nice sarcastic sense of humor about it.

Mortgage: Commitment letter is in the mail, at last! Part of the mortgage commitment process involves the bank sending an appraiser to the house- you know, so they can rest assured they're not ponying up six figures for a rusty tin shack. Inspection was yesterday, and that went well. The roof is the only (minor) sticky point. We know it was replaced at some time, but we don't know when; the inspector's best guess is about ten years ago. There is some evidence of water damage near a skylight, but we think it was probably from before the roof was replaced. Even so, we're going to see ( Read more... )
